MUSIC SPOTLIGHT: M.O.V.E

Japanese band M.O.V.E (aka MOVE) was formed in 1997 by T-kimura, Yuri, and Motsu. Mostly popularly known for creating music for the anime “Initial D”, also providing the music for the opening theme of “Ikkitousen,” the ending theme for the “Final Fantasy: Unlimited” anime and the ending credits of the “Dynasty Warriors 2” video game.

In 2008, T-kimura stated that he wanted to focus more on producing music than stage performance and in 2009 no longer performed on stage with Yuri and Motsu. Near the end of 2012, the band’s website stated that after 15 years they will disband. Their final album was released in early 2013, along their final concert (Titled: m.o.v.e – The Last Show – Champagne Fight) held in March 2013; and was recorded for DVD release later that year.

M.O.V.E’s music can be described as a blend of: rock, rap, electronica, eurobeat, techno, metal, trance, hip hop, pop and many more to create a unique and refreshing style.

It is unfortunate to see such a strong group that has been in the industry for so long to now be gone; even though they have disband their music is truly timeless.

Fans of M.O.V.E will be interested to hear that Motsu has a new group called ALTIMA, he started this side group back in 2011 with fripside’s Satoshi Yaginuma and Maon Kurosaki with their debut single “I’ll Believe” for Shakugan no Shana final’s ending theme. Recently ALTIMA released their debut studio album “Tryangle”.
