Formed in 2005, the band created it’s name – ONE OK ROCK – from “one o’clock” which was the time they used to practice, before their debut. The Japanese language makes no distinction with “r” and “l” sounds; thus changed the sound of “o’clock” to “o’krock” which was further more changed to become: ONE OK ROCK.
They are known for popular singles such as: “No Scared” an all English single used in Black Rock Shooter: the Game , “The Beginning” used as the theme song for the Ruroni Kenshin live action adaptation of the manga; “Mighty Long fall” becoming the theme song for the movie sequels. “Nothing Helps”; another all English single was used as the theme for the Japanese version of DmC: Devil May Cry video game.
2013 marked worldwide success as they had started touring outside of Asia; beginning all over Europe they had continued touring and by early 2014 ONE OK ROCK held 2 concerts in the U.S. – Los Angeles, and NYC. Continuing their success ONE OK ROCK was invited to play at the 2014 VANS WARPED TOUR – traveling through 18 cities in North America.
ONE OK ROCK’s music style is the combination of: Alternative rock, post hardcore, pop punk, rock, emo, heavy metal.
